Montana roja playa blanca lanzarote
Whilst in the resort of Playa Blanca, I had an impulse for a walk. I was in the car so drove to the base by turning into Calle Francia, then second left into Calle de los Claveles parking at the end of this road.
Montaña Roja
Once found the path is well worn and obviously a very popular walk. The view down to Playa Blanca and Papagayo is incredible from here, following the path around the rim of the crater I was rewarded with views to Fuerteventura and Playa Flamingo. It was late afternoon and the sun was low in the sky, it was a shame that the lighthouse at El Faro was hard to see from the glare. The view to the South from Montaña Roja, would be the perfect spot to watch the sun setting. In fact as I was making my descent there were a few couples just starting the walk up. I liked the view along the coast towards El Golfo and the Salinas del Janubio, the landscape is flat in comparison here with the Timanfaya fire mountains in the distance.
Lanzarote Walk, Montaña Roja - Lanzarote Information
The walk around Montaña Roja is just under 3km, I comfortably walked it in 40 minutes with time to appreciate the view and take photos. Lovely way to start the day. First time in a volcano. Nice short trek. Super, vraiment facile pour des débutants comme nous. C'était très beau, venté en haut, mais pas froid pour nous. Doesn't take that long if you don't hang about taking pictures. Paths very clear. Very windy and started to get hot after 8. Short but very enjoyable with views of the sea and mountains! A bit steep coming up but that is short lived and definitely worth it at the top.
I went in late June and the temp was nice, the breeze made it quite pleasant. Very easy trial, the only things to worry about are stones on the way and strong wind. Very nice view! A little crowded with tourists.
Reasonably easy, but lots of loose stones, so have to be a bit careful of slipping. Views are good, but not much to see in the crater! Great trail, easy to follow. People in walking sandals and pumps, so not difficult at all. Fantastic views! Great walk with some steepish parts but not difficult. Stunning views of the Caldera and over Playa Blanca. Walking shoes are helpful but not essential. Easy walk if you are fit, otherwise moderate. Great views. Length 2. Preview trail. Hiking Bird watching Views Rocky No shade. Small and enjoyable route that runs along a trail in the direction of the crater quite steep and rocky. It is recommended to wear good hiking shoes to avoid slipping. At the top of the crater is usually very windy, so be prepared with some warm clothes, depending on the time of year. Fantastic view of the Costa Blanca, the Ferry to Fuerteventura and the whole cape.
